Employment & Community Options is non-profit organization that educates and empowers low-income adults with developmental disabilities with the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve their personal goals and optimum potential in life. We are proud of the role we play in connecting businesses that need reliable workers with low-income adults looking to secure meaningful work. Through our 100% community-based work model, we foster interactive participation with businesses and the general public rather than isolate program participants in a sheltered environment. Our profound community impact is evident in four counties throughout California including San Diego, San Bernardino, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz. Our efforts have been launched locally, but as our programs expand to a statewide scale, we realize we are part of something bigger.

AB 954 Support
Assemblyman Brian Maienschein of San Diego is sponsoring AB 954 which would increase the Supported Employment rate back to its 2006 level. Supported Employment is a program the finds community employment (jobs) for adults with developmental disabilities. This rate restoration is needed so community nonprofit agencies can afford to deliver this service to individuals with the highest unemployment rate in the country.

We need the Appropriation Committees support to move forward with this legislation. Brian has been able to secure by-partisan support for AB 954. Please draft a letter of support for AB 954, A sample is provided for you here. Send it to the the following members of the committee
