Autism Services

As a company we are dedicated to evolving as an agency as the needs of our communities change and grow.  Our current programs and services focus on integrating and supporting individuals of a variety of developmental disabilities in leading independent lives in their own communities.  However, research has indicated that in the next five years, more than four thousand teenagers with autism will be reaching adulthood and be transitioning to services such as those provided by Employment & Community Options.  Due to this anticipated influx of individuals with autism into our services we are currently actively seeking out creative solutions and service delivery models to specifically support participants with autism in the community.

Employment & Community Options has created and hired a Behavioral Planning & Services Specialist position. This position serves two functions: 1) To support staff in working with individuals with autism currently in our services to be successful in the community and 2) To assist in researching and creating a service delivery model specific to meeting the needs of individuals with autism.

We want to be ready to serve the influx of individuals with autism who will be seeking services from adult agencies in the next 3 -5 years.  We understand that adapting curriculum and procedures to fit with the individuals learning style; specific needs in the community, in paid employment or in a volunteer position will be critical. This is why we are researching other services models throughout the state to build a quality service that will complement our company’s mission and meet the needs of this population.
