Employment & Community Options assists thousands of individuals with disabilities in obtaining and retaining employment opportunities in the five counties of California including San Diego, San Bernardino, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Alameda. Through us, adults with disabilities are given the opportunity to work as employees at places of business in their community. Employment & Community Options also serves low-income seniors who must return to work because they cannot afford to remain retired and live in the community.

Urgent Call to Action!
LEGISLATURE BEGINS THE FINAL DISCUSSIONS ON A REVISED BUDGET THIS WEEK
The Legislature will attempt to close a $24 Billion deficit in the February-approved 2009-10 State Budge this week. Democratic leaders have announced their intent to bring a spending package to the Floors of the Senate and the Assembly either Tuesday or Wednesday.
With no deal with Republicans, however, the likelihood of an immediate 2/3 vote to approve the plan are unlikely. Some portions of the plan, including nearly $12 Billion in cuts, could be approved with a simple majority vote, but Governor Schwarzenegger has announced that he would veto anything but a complete solution.
For the developmental services budget, their remains an opportunity to urge Legislators to re-think the current plan which relies heavily on denial of services to people with disabilities and reductions in funding for vital programs.

San Diego Padres Take On The New York Mets!
Have fun at the Padres game while helping Employment & Community Options. Puchase tickets through Employment & Community Options by July 12, 2009 for the August 9, 2009 game and $10.50 will be donated to Employment & Community Options.
Charger Signature Harley "Opportunity Drawing"
Employment & Community Options continues to sell raffle tickets for the Harley V-Rod Motorcycle. This brand new custom painted motorcycle has been autographed by 82 Charger players and coaches. Proceeds from this event will go to fund the programs and services offered to people with disabilities and economically disadvantaged seniors.
